Sidney Part of NET Events Across State

Sidney was one of nine sites chosen across the state last week as officials from NET, Nebraska's Public Broadcasting Station, crossed the state to guage people's feeling for their communities.

A small but -Sidney-enthusiastic group met with Bill Anderson, director of the NET Radio Network and his team, who told the gathering "we want to see how we can best serve the area and the state."

First up for Anderson was to see what people like about Sidney and the county. Participants included a range from long-time residents to relative newcomers, who across the board told Anderson that the people of Sidney are a big part of what makes the community special. The school system, parks and an active community were also mentioned as Sidney's strengths.

When it came to discussing challenges facing the community, the changes at Cabela's was a given, but drug related issues and the burden they have laid on local law enforcement were also mentioned - however, the discussion quickly returned to the positive side as participants continued to list the good within the community.

Anderson and his team spent the day in town, and in the afternoon put on a session on how to use the PBS Video app, as well as NET's free video streaming services. The team capped its day in Sidney with a PBS Kids Family Event at the Fox Theatre.
