Commissioners Approve Replat of Sioux Industrial Park

About a year ago, Vitalix was setting up shop in the Sidney area. They made the move after the Alliance facility was lost in a fire.

The fire offered an unexpected opportunity in a way. The company relocated to Sidney in September 2018, acquiring a warehouse in the Industrial Park. The warehouse was outfitted according to the needs of the company rather than trying to upgrade an existing system. The Alliance location was about 30 years old when it was lost to the fire, according to Olson.

The move has resulted in the purchase of the first warehouse and the purchase of a downtown office and second warehouse. He said purchasing the downtown office location has “worked out well for us.”

“We bought the first building in September (2018),” Vitalix, Inc., President Greg Olson said recently. “We’ve already maxed out the first.”

Olson said the company has benefitted from the proximity to Interstate 80, the local workforce and the cost of utilities.

“We’ve definitely found some economic advantages being close to the freeway,” he said.

Vitalix employs about 20 people locally, and 60 throughout the company.

Olson said people have been very receptive with Vitalix moving to Sidney.

Since the move, they have expanded to the level ARE Properties, owners of the location, approached the Cheyenne County Commissioners recently to have part of the industrial park replatted. Planning and Zoning Administrator Colleen Terman said in the June 3 commissioners meeting the application is in order and the intent is for ARE to maintain control of the railroad spurs and the water lines.

Vitalix has been manufacturing lick tubs for about 30 years, according to the company’s website. The company has been manufacturing livestock supplements since 1989. Vitalix has sales representatives throughout the US and Canada.
