In about a month, German heritage will be celebrated as the Sidney community will be ringing in Oktoberfest.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Sidney City Council approved a request for the Oktoberfest Parade. The route will again be on Illinois Street/Highway 30. The closure would be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Twenty-third avenue to the intersection of Fort Sidney Road and Illinois Street. As part of the agreement, the City of Sidney will place barricades and detour signs, and have the signs removed after the parade is completed. Police officers will also be staffing intersections.
