Sidney Cross Country Starts Season Strong

The defending State Championship Red Raider Cross Country Team started the season strong, taking first place with a team score of 17 at the Panhandle Classic in Scottsbluff on Thursday.

Riverview Golf Course in Scottsbluff hosted the competition, and Sidney took top honors while Gering came in second place with a score of 33, while Mitchell took third place with a score of 44.

Sophomores Cameron Brauer and Daniel Bashtovoi placed second and third individually, while sophomore Mitch Deer placed fifth to give Sidney three top ten finishers.

While graduating standouts Collin Brauer and Carlos Lucero, the Sidney team remains strong as Cameron Brauer, Daniel and Ben Bashtovoi, and Mitch Deer remain from the State Championship team of a year ago.

Sidney next travels to Gering for the Gering Invite on Friday, then to Cozad for the Cozad Invitational on Saturday.
