September Students of the Month

The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the September Students of the Month Monday.

7th grade: Kayla Westby is a strong academic student who often leads in the classroom by example. She is always willing to assist others to understand problems and demonstrates the strong desire to learn by asking questions when she does not understand. Her responsibility in the classroom and her determination to excel, make her an outstanding student. Kayla is the daughter of Kilee Rapp and Steve Westby.

Ellie Hollingshead is the 8th grade student of the month. She is an excellent role model for other students in the classroom. She always has a positive attitude and is more than willing to help others in need. Her commitment to doing well in school and participating in various activities makes her the perfect choice for students of the month. Ellie is the daughter of Adam and Michelle Hollingshead.

Reese Riddle is the ninth grade student of the month. She was selected for her academic performance, classroom effort, good attitude, and leadership. She is a hard worker and a very kind person. Her positivity is contagious. She is always willing to lead in class and seems to have a hunger for excelling at whatever she might be doing in the halls, on the court and in the classroom. She participates in volleyball and basketball and enjoys camping and helping others. After high school graduation, she plans on attending college to become a physical therapist. Reese is the daughter of Mike and Ashley Riddle.

Ericka Meakins is the 10th grade was chosen because of academic performance and classroom effort. She has performed extremely well in class and comes to class with a great attitude and prepared to learn. She is an excellent student. Erika is part of the Danz Team, Heartbreakers, Choir, Art Club, French Horn and Piano. Obviously, she really enjoys music, dancing, art and writing. She works for Majesta Farms and her dad's marketing and manufacturing business. Erika is planning on attending college to study business, art or writing. She is the daughter of Steve and Heather Meakins.

Sam Hashman was selected as the 11th grade student of the month based on his academic performance, classroom effort and attitude, leadership and service and citizenship. His is an excellent student with excellent grades. He participates in baseball and basketball. He also tutors kids in his time off and he enjoys helping others. His future plans are still open, but he would like to become and entrepreneur, go into business, become a math teacher, go into the medical field, become a lawyer or be a firefighter. He is the son of Mike Hashman and Amanda Hashman.

Alaina Kuhns is the 12th grade student of the month. Alaina is an excellent student and was selected because of her positive attitude and academic performance. She is happy to help others out whenever needed. She is a member of Danz Team, Cross Country, Speech S Club and National Honor Society. She also worked at Buffalo Point as a waitress. She plans on attending college to study business and marketing. Alaina is the daughter of Andy and Brandy Kuhns.
