Wuhan Coronavirus Delays Spring Sports Panhandle Season

All Panhandle schools, including Peetz, Colo., have been ordered closed for the next two weeks, with tentative plans to reopen Monday, March 30.

Since avoiding large gatherings and concentrations of people has been determined to be the most effective way of slowing and minimizing the effects of the Coronavirus, it has been decided to close schools and therefore delay the start of the spring sports season as a precautionary measure.

The NSAA has suspended all school related practices until March 30. As a result, the Sidney Invitational Track Meet scheduled for March 28 has been cancelled. In Colorado, the CSHAA has suspended all sports and activities until April 6. Again, these are preliminary target dates and are subject to change as more information is gathered about the spread and containment of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Sun-Telegraph will be updating information as we learn of any changes to dates, schedules, or details regarding specific specific events and activities.. Please be sure to check the Sun-Telegraph Facebook page for breaking updates.
