Marjory Ann Harris Fish

Marjory Ann Harris Fish passed away Sunday, August 2nd, 202. her four surviving children were able to spend time with her during the week before her passing, for this they are very grateful.

Marjory was born to Ingle R. and Doris DeVoss Harris on May 17, 1923 in Sheridan, Indiana. She graduated from Sheridan High School and attended Indiana Business College. She successfully passed the Civil Service Exam and was hired by the U.S. War Department where she worked in the secretarial pool. Her office was located in the newly constructed Pentagon Building in Washington, D.C. There she met her future husband, Jack T. Fish.

Marjory and Jack were married in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 7, 1946. They settled in Laramie, Wyo., and resided there until Jack completed his BS Degree in Petroleum Geology at the University of Wyoming. Marjory worked for several different professors and departments on the UW campus. After leaving Laramie, Jack worked for Standard Oil and with that company they moved to different areas of Wyoming, Montana, Texas, Colorado and then settled in Sidney, Nebraska. Marjory worked for the Cheyenne County Welfare Dept., Sidney Vocational Technical College, Western Nebraska Technical College and Cabela’s.

She and Jack enjoyed traveling around the U.S. visiting their children in various parts of the country and seeing many national parks.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; her oldest son Ron Fish and daughter Cara Pankoke.

She is survived by her daughter, Rue (Thomas) Toovey (Bastrop, Texas), Jackey (Brad) Vizina (Sidney, NE), Jay Fish (Lucy Kropp), Sidney, NE., Tamara (Ralph) Smith (Chattanooga, TN); daughter-in-law Connie Peterson Fish (Laramie, Wyo.) and 10 beloved grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Marjory was the oldest of six children and was preceded in her death by her brother, Arthur Harris; and sisters Kathleen Gene Harris, Doris Elaine Pierle and Mary Jo Schirer. She has one surviving brother, Ingle R. Harris, Jr.

She is dearly missed by her family, and all those whose lives she touched. Majory will be placed to rest in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or to the Sidney Congregate Meal Program (attn: Judy Schaeffer) where she enjoyed the companionship of all who attended.
