Coyotes Nip Wallace 36-31

Potter-Dix’s Coyote Football team opened at home Friday night against the Wallace Wildcats and came away with a 36-to-31 victory in a tight contest.

The Wallace team was finally able to play football, after not having enough players to field a team in recent memory, and gave it their all against the Coyotes. But it was the Coyote’s running game that tallied over 200 yards that made the difference. Sophomore quarterback Luke Kasten threw for three touchdowns, but was picked off twice by the Wildcats. He did much more damage with his legs, however, as the Wildcats schemed to shut down senior running back Donald Moench, holding him to just 44 yard on 11 rushes. Kasten, however, ran wild carrying the ball 11 times for 168 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Javon Coyle hauled in six catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns, with Moench and senior Brandon Mendoza each catching a touchdown pass as well. Kasten also led the defense with 17 total tackles and two sacks.

Potter-Dix travels to Harrison on Friday to take on the Sioux County Warriors.
