Creek Valley Sinks Sioux County 62-42

Creek Valley’s Storm Football team improved their record to 2-and-1 with a convincing 62-to-24 win over the visiting Sioux County Warriors in Chappell Friday night.

The Storm started hot, putting up 24 points in the first quarter as their offense opened up the field with its passing attack while the Warriors fought back and put up 12 points of their own in the opening frame. Creek Valley turned it on in the second quarter, racking up 32 points to open a big lead, and went into the intermission up 56-to-24, effectively putting the game out of reach for the visitors.

Sioux County was able to score 18 points in the second half playing against the Storm’s substitutes and back up players, but is was far too little to effect the final outcome, and the Storm walked away with the 62-to-24 victory. Junior quarterback Eli Schmid went 7 for 12 for 110 yards and four touchdowns in the air, while junior Lucas Trujillo rushed 10 times for 112 yards and a touchdown to lead the ground attack. Trujillo also caught three touchdown passes while senior Justin Ningen caught two touchdowns of his own. Senior Tucker Graeff led the defense with 13 total tackles. Senior Oakley Hodges went 6-for-8 on extra point kicks. The Storm go on the road against Minatare Friday night.
