Sidney XC Second at Chadron Invite

Sidney juniors Daniel Bashtovoi and Mitch Deer led the boys Cross Country team, while junior Lydia Peters and freshman Talissa Tanquary led the girls squad as both teams ended the day with a second place finish at the Chadron Invitational Cross Country Meet at Chadron State College on Saturday.

Bashtovoi finished third overall with a time of 18:32.31 followed by Deer in fourth place with a time of 18:51.34 for the boy’s squad. Junior Treyson Johnson finished in 19th place with a time of 19:49.27 to round out the top twenty.

The boys ended up with a score of 46, second to Gering’s score of 27 for their second place overall team finish.

For the girls, Peters finished second overall with a time of 21:40.57 and Tanquary finished third overall with a time of 21:40.95. Freshman Jenju Peters finished in fifteenth place with time of 24:02.19 and sophomore Rheo Dykstra finished sixteenth with a time of 24:15.61.

The girls ended up with a score of 34, just missing a first place tie with Chadron who ended with 33 points for first place.

Sidney next travels to McCook on Thursday for the McCook Invite at Heritage Hills Country Club.
