Hope and Sidney Sherfey were married Dec 17, 1946 and raised their four children in Sidney NE where Hope worked for many years in the school district, first as a cashier in the cafeteria and then retired after 14 years as a teacher’s assistant at Special Education Unit #14. She loved and was loved by those special children.

Hope enjoyed playing the piano, created beautiful embroidered items and enjoyed many different craft projects through the years. She was beautiful inside and out and saw the beauty in all things. She loved and grew many beautiful flowers in her yard. Hope was a wonderful cook and she loved to bake. Even though she and her kitchen were small, her heart was large. She hosted many extended family dinners and provided a temporary home for two nephews as they attended technical college. The friends of her children often gathered in her kitchen for a meal or a baked treat.

After retirement she enjoyed 18 years in Mesa AZ where she loved to dance, play pool, play cards and travel before moving to Sterling in 2007. She enjoyed making new friends and playing cards in Sterling. Hope loved her family unconditionally and her quiet support was always present.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her step father, Martin Fiesterman; daughter Debora; sister, Lela Dayley; her special aunt, Margie Lane; special uncles, Shirley and Roy Rittenhouse; and cousin Ralynn Rittenhouse.
