The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

7th grade. Evan Hrbek — Evan Hrbek is the seventh grade student of the month for January. Evan demonstrates a strong desire to succeed in all subject areas. He is a diligent worker who completes work that goes above and beyond expectations. Evan is respectful and kind. He sets a strong example for his peers. Evan makes our school a better place. Congratulations, Evan. Evan is the son of Chad and Debbie Hrbek.

8th grade. Christian Brigham — Christian Brigham has been chosen as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade Student of the month for January. Christian has consistently displayed the qualities that we find desirable of a student representing Sidney Middle School. Christian sets a positive example each day in his academics and positive behavior choices. Facing every challenge with a can-do spirit, he always gives 110 percent. When other students are in need of assistance, Christian helps them with patiences and understanding. In our experience with Christian, he has been respectful to teachers and other students. His positive attitude, excellent work ethic, leadership and patience with others make him an excellent choice for student of the month. Christian is the son of Mark and Betty Brigham.

9th grade. Siona Kshirsagar — Siona is a conscientious student whose work shows an extraordinary depth. She has a strong desire for learning. She is involved in Cross Country, Track, 4-H, 4-H Archery, and piano. She used to be part of her church’s confirmation program until she got confirmed. She has been taking piano lessons for eight years, loves creating art, especially painting and drawing. She plans to graduate high school and go on to college. She would love to have a career in the medical facilities and possibly become a pediatrician. Siona is the daughter of Sachin and Stutika Kshirsagar.

10th grade. Emily Miller — Emily was selected as student of the month because of her academic performance. She has a strong work ethic and can be counted on to come to class prepared and ready to learn She is involved in FFA and 4-H. In FFA, she is currently in a vet science competition. For 4-H, she shows livestock on a highly competitive level. Emily comes from a family that has raised cattle since she was about 7 or 8. They run about 20 head of cattle that produce calves each year. One additional fact is that she plans o showing livestock on a national level in the next couple of years. She plans on going to college and majoring in veterinary medicine or livestock management Emily is the daughter of Kip and Denise Miller.

11th grade. Austin Wood — Austin is in Advisory and in Personal Health/Fitness class and he always comes to class with a positive attitude, is ready to learn, and a team player. He has a very cheerful nature and demonstrates a love of learning. He is a member of the Dance team and part of Choir. He works at Runza Restaurant. After graduation, he would like to either join the US Navy or becoe a math professor. Austin is the son of Kathy Wood.

12th grade. Isavell Hernandez — Isavell was nominated because of her academic performance, classroom effort and leadership. She has really stepped out of her shell this year. She’s been more focused on her future, asking lots of questions about college applications, scholarships and career paths. She has been working really hard this year to keep her grades up in preparation for college. The activities and clubs that she is part of are Cheer, Science Club, Mentor at North Elementary, Raider Made Coffee Shop and “S” Club. Isavell is an independent consultant for Arbonne ad she works at Walmart as well as for Renkowski Vegetation. Her hobbies are cheer and she loves to design. Her favorite thing to do is work out. She plans to attendGrand Canyon University and pursue a career in commercial interior design and continue working for Arbonne as an independent consultant. Isavell is the daughter of Gustavo and Sharon Hernandez.
