Creek Valley’s Storm Basketball team ended their 2020-21 season with a loss to the South Platte Blue Knights in the first round of the D2-11 Sub District Tournament in Tuesday, February 23. It was their third match up against their rivals, with each team earning a win in the previous contests.
The game started with both teams playing good defense and good shot selection by Creek Valley, but the Blue Knights held a four point lead at the end of the first period 14-to-10. South Platte dialed up the pressure in the second quarter, holding Creek Valley to just six points while scoring 13 of their own to take a 27-to-16 lead into the half.
South Platte continued their strong play in the third quarter, outscoring the Storm by five to extend their lead to 43-to-27 going into the final frame. The Blue Knights again dialed up the defensive pressure, and Creek Valley could only manage seven more points, stopping their attempts at a comeback, and ending their season. Creek Valley senior Oakley Hodges led the scoring for the Storm with 11 points in the loss, but went 0-for-9 beyond the three point arc. Creek Valley finishes their season with a disappointing 4-and-18 record, and will lose senior standouts Oakley Hodges and Justin Ningen to graduation.
