Vanity

Vanity of vanities, all is vanity!  What is the profit to a man in all his labor which he labors under the sun? These were the words of a man named Solomon who was King of Israel from 965-926 B.C. Solomon had riches, power, fame and everything going for him but he didn’t have wisdom.  So Solomon sought wisdom and understanding from God and although gifted with great wisdom from God, he struggled with the real purpose and meaning of life. Solomon was considered the wisest man who ever lived and his final conclusion in regards to life was this: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this applies to every man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with all that is hidden, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.”  (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). Like Solomon, we all struggle with the purpose and meaning of our lives.  This struggle gets even more difficult to comprehend with the events that are now plaguing us: Covid, the vaccine and the manipulation of our lives/deaths by those who are presently trying to control everything. I heard that this is not just limited to our nation but an overall attack on the world. Is this conspiracy theory or is it true? I have said it all along, who do you believe?  The wisest man, who ever lived, struggled with the goings on of his day and concluded that the best thing to do was to fear God and do what He commanded. The one true and living God created life, sustains life and He gives eternal life to those who do His will and survive this human mess.

Without God, life is nothing but vanity; it is meaningless, purposeless and hopeless.  A belief in God gives meaning, purpose and hope to all. We can accomplish great things in our lives but our death puts an end to not only our life but everything we accomplished during it. We can be the wisest, richest and most talented people but wisdom, wealth and talent mean nothing in eternity.

Jesus said: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up the cross, and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake, shall find it.  For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his own soul?  Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  Matthew 16:24-26

When you look around you, Do you see a life full of vanity or eternal life with God? If you are struggling with life, you might want to consider these words of Paul: “For am I now seeking the favor of men or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10.
