Merlyn L. Heidemann, age 91, of Potter, NE passed away at his home on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in the Prairie West Church in Potter, NE with Pastor Warren Cico officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Potter Cemetery. Cremation has been held. Services will be recorded and available on our website for viewing. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Merlyn’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Merlyn’s name to the Prairie West Church in Potter.

Merlyn LaMont Heidemann the son of August and Lulu (Kellner) Heidemann was born on January 9, 1930 at Wilcox, NE.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn Pickett on September 14, 1950 in Laramie, WY. They lived on the home place south of Kimball and later lived on various farms around Kimball until moving to Potter in 1976.
Merlyn enjoyed rodeoing in his younger years and raising his children. He also enjoyed playing cards, dancing and playing his guitar.
Merlyn had many farm and ranch jobs before starting his own business in custom haying and livestock hauling.
Survivors include his 5 children, Deanne Harker and husband, Chris, from Wamsutter, WY, Jeanine Heidemann of Potter, Burdett Heidemann and wife, Heidi, of Lincoln, NE, Troy Heidemann of Potter, NE, Robin Harmon and husband, Rex, of Sturgis, SD, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Merlyn was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his brother Kenneth and sister Orleatha Onigkeit and one granddaughter, Tara Appleby.
