Shane Robert Ernest, age 31, of Dalton, NE entered into eternal rest on Friday June 11, 2021 near Neligh, NE from complications of injuries sustained in a semi-truck accident. A Vigil service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton, NE with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dalton, NE. Cremation has been held. Services will be recorded and available on our website for viewing. Memorials can be sent in care of the family for future designation.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Shane’s register book and leave condolences for the family.

Shane Robert Ernest was born in Omaha, NE on February 28, 1990, the son of Bruce and Pamela (Racek) Ernest. He lived and attended school in Dalton. Shane was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout before graduating from Leyton High School, Class of 2009. That fall, he attended 1 semester at Southeast Community College in Milford, NE. When deciding he had enough of formal schooling and wanted to enter the working world. He held several jobs from mechanic to traveling harvesting crews before deciding to follow in his dad’s footsteps as a commercial truck driver. He began his journey with Adam’s Trucking in Sidney. Eventually Shane found his niche driving semi-truck with CW Trucking in Nebraska. He cherished his last year tremendously while driving his 1997 Peterbilt.

Shane is survived by his Father and Step-mother, Bruce and Jenn (Phillips) Ernest, of Dalton, NE. His Brothers, Glen Bellmyer of Dalton, NE and Tanner Bellmyer of Basin, WY. His Sister, Cassandra Hopwood of Dalton, NE. Grandmother, Ellie Ernest, of Dalton, NE. Step-Grandparents, Wayne and Cindy Phillips of Dalton, NE. Nieces, Jazmyne and Oaklee and Nephew, Dallas, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family.

Shane was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela (Racek) Ernest in 1999, his Grandparents, Ed and Peg Racek and Robert Ernest and his fur-baby and trucking companion, “Shep”.
