Leyton’s Warrior Football team continued their strong start to the season, traveling to Morrill Friday night and defeating the Lions 56-to-14.
The Warriors started strong and held the Lions to just one touchdown in the first half, then another in the fourth quarter when the game was out of hand. Senior quarterback Scout Gamble had a stellar game, completing 7-of-8 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Peyton Abbott also went 2-for-2 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Kole Bush had another fine game rushing the ball, with 11 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Abbott had five carries for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Leyton had five different players score touchdowns, with senior Mason Reimers and juniors Justin Ernest and Chase Rushman also reeling in touchdown catches. Bush also returned a fumble for a touchdown in the win.
The Warriors have won all of their games by big margins so far, but next travel to Trenton to take on the 4-and-1 Hitchcock County Falcons for their first true test of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
