It took about eight rounds to decide among the stage full of Cheyenne County spelling contestants. As with a sporting contest, the decision was often made by who was mentally more focused, and what word they drew at that round. Dagen Lee and Elizabeth Higgins proved to be the best spellers in Cheyenne County. The county competition was held Jan. 18 at West Elementary School. Higgins has the opportunity to compete at the State level in Omaha. Dagen Lee, right, is the runner-up in the county contest.
