Mary Jeanne (Wilson) Showers

June 18, 1954-May 17, 2022

After battling Alzheimer’s disease for over two years, our dear Jeanne quietly passed away on May 17, 2022.  Jeanne was a loving wife, mother and sister.  Although taken from us much too soon, she lived a full life growing up in Sidney, NE.  She enjoyed the company of her best friends, Leslie and Joni.  In high school, Jeanne played the clarinet and marched in the Orange Bowl Parade.  She loved to ride horses with her mother, Mary, and sister, Julie, on the ranch in South Dakota.

Prior to graduation from Wayne State College, Jeanne served as a student delegate to the United Nations.  She also earned her certification as a paralegal from The Denver Paralegal Institute.  She made good use of that certification working with law firms in Ft Collins, CO to the high rises in downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach, CA where she specialized in maritime law.

Jeanne had an adventurous side from trekking with friends to the Montreal Olympics to piloting a “tail dragger” plane.  It was in ground school where she met her future husband, Donn.  They were married in Sidney, NE on May 30, 1981.  After living in Ft Collins for eight years, they moved to Lakewood, CA.  It was there that the joy of her life, Jacob, was born.  She created a fun and loving home in California for nearly thirty years.  After retiring, the family returned to Colorado.  Living along the golf course fairway, life was good.  She enjoyed attending and volunteering at LPGA events.  She also enjoyed riding her Electra Townie along the San Gabriel River in California and the many bike trails in and around Windsor, CO.

As the disease progressed, Jeanne’s activities slowed but she still enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the varied wildlife and visiting with family and friends.

Preceding Jeanne in heaven are her parents, Mary (Sasse) Wilson and Jamison Wilson.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Donn; her son Jacob, daughter-in-law, Lauren; sister, Julie and brother-in-law, Bill as well as many loving extended family members.

Services will be private. The family requests any thoughtfulness be directed to your local Alzheimer’s Association.

Jeanne grew up across the street from me in Sidney, NE. We spent many hours together. We are even “ blood brothers…sisters”. When we were in about 3rd grade, we cut our index fingers and put them together so we would be forever connected!! I still have the scar!!😂. We would run in the rocky street barefoot so that we would have tough feet. She was full of “good ideas” when we were young. I’m sorry I lost track of her adventures over the years. ❤️ Trish Mueller Long
