Sidney XC Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd at Cozad Invite

Great running weather was in order for the Chadron Invitational on Friday, Sept 9, and the Sidney Cross Country team ran well against the best teams in the region at Chadron State College.

On the boy's side, the Gering squad took first place with 15 points, followed by Sidney with 75 points in second and Rapid City Christian with 85 points in third place. Sidney's top finisher was junior Brendan Shepard in 13th place at 19:38.90, followed by sophomore Noah Canas in 15th place at 19:50.54. Sophomore Jashawn Davenport broke the top-twenty with a 17th place finish at 20:05.90.

For the girls, Chadron took top honors with 30 points, followed by Gering in second place with 38 points, and Sidney in third with 70 points. Sidney's top finisher was junior Talissa Tanquary in second place at 21:15.65, followed by senior Rheo Dykstra in 10th place at 23:38.21.

Sidney next competes at the McCook Invitational today (Thursday, Sept. 15).
