Jane was born April 23, 1947 in Hastings,

NE to Carl and Ardyce I. (Evers) Schuman.

She attended school at Hildreth Public

Schools, graduating from High School

in 1965. She attended the University

of Nebraska at Kearney (Kearney State

College) where she double majored in

Special Education and English. Following

college, she moved to Sidney and started

her career with Educational Service Unit

14. She worked at many locations including

Eastward School, Sidney Armory, The

Cottage, Central School, and Sidney High

School. Jane taught at Here We Grow Preschool,

Awana Cubbies, and Cubscouts, all

in Sidney, NE.

Jane was united in marriage to Frederick

T. "Tom" Meick on September 20, 1969 in

Sidney, Nebraska. Jane played the piano

and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,

and friend who will be missed by all who

knew and loved her. Jane loved God,

family, friends, all children,

and her brothers and sisters in

Christ Jesus. She was active in

her church from bible studies

to teaching Sunday School and

helping with Awana.

Everyone who knew Jane

could see how much she loved

kids showing God's love and

patience while planting seeds

to help them learn to grow into

strong Christians. She found

her passion for teaching at a

very young age because Jane

loved reading and learning herself. While

relaxing, it always seemed to be with the

Bible or any other book. Yes, reading was

also a deep passion she had. The teaching

passion landed her first job during summers

before graduating high school where

she helped teach children at Engleside

Hospital.
