Frederick T. "Tom" Meick was born January 10, 1948 in Sidney, NE to Frederick C. and Dorothy Evelyn (Gade) Meick. He attended school at Sidney Public Schools, graduating from Sidney High School with the Class of 1966. He worked at jobs such as delivering newspapers and working at Jack and Jill before graduating high school.

Tom was drafted into the Navy for one tour in Okinawa, Japan working as a medical orderly. Upon his discharge, he worked on a seismograph crew setting dynamite in Wyoming and Montana. He did not stay with that job because he was in love with Jane Schuman and he had to come back to her. While taking marriage counseling classes at the Baptist Church before getting married, Tom asked Jesus into his heart, accepting God's gift of salvation and was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in February of 1968. Tom and Jane were united in marriage on September 20, 1969 and were married for 53 happy years.

He took college courses in plumbing, electrical, industrial management, landscaping, and performance coaching and evaluations. After their marriage he worked at Jack and Jill Grocery Store and painted houses. He also attended Rocky Mountain School of Meatcutting, graduating on July 23, 1971. When he returned, he did not have an opportunity to cut meat so he worked in maintenance at WNCC to support his young family. He started with an up-and-coming young company called Cabela's in 1976. He advanced to the position of maintenance foreman and had a long career with them making lots of friends along the way. He will be remembered for his good work ethic and most importantly for his sense of humor.

Tom is survived by his daughter Angela and husband Steve Hicks of Sidney, NE; twin sons Kevin of Crete, NE and Kyle of Crete, NE; grandson Dominick Hicks currently serving his country in the Airforce;
