Sidney's Jadyn Cottam and Saphira Whitley have become the first Lady Raider District Champions and first qualifiers for the NSAA Tournament in Girls Wrestling.
Sidney's Lady Raider Wrestling team made history when Jaydn Cottam and Saphira Whitley each won a district championship and qualified for the NSAA State Wrestling Championships. The Girls District A-4 Meet was held at Bridgeport High School on Saturday.
Jaydn Cottam, at 105 lbs, won her division with a pin of Norfolk's Tierra Pollard in 3:47. Cottam has a 31-and-4 record over the season. Saphira Whitley won the 190 lb division with a pin over Southwest's Madelyn Tryon in 1:09. Whitley has 14-and-5 record on the season.
