Local Elks Lodge #1894 Makes Donations that are Paws-itively Generous

Elks throughout the nation find it in their hearts and pocket books to donate to the Elks National Foundation (ENF), a foundation specifically created to help communities in need through the Community Investment Program. This program opens up grants to lodges that meet the requirements set forth by the ENF. This is the second year in a row that the Sidney Lodge 1894 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks have met those requirements and been able to apply for grants to give back to our community. On February 13th, two checks were presented to local animal rescues, High Plains PAWS and Adopt-A-Dog. These two groups work tirelessly to save and find home for our four-legged friends. If you want to adopt a dog or help by donating to these organizations, please contact Cilena Dueker at High Plains PAWS at [email protected] or by phone at 308-249-4308, or Lori at [email protected] or by phone 308-890-0045.

Lodge #1894 was also awarded a $2000 grant to help fund their “Kozy Kids” coat, glove and hat program through the lodge. They didn't spend the entire amount on winter clothing for kids, so the remaining amount of $412.84 was donated to the PlainsWest CASA in Sidney.

If you would like to get involved with CASA or make a donation, please reach out to Krista Bruns at 308-203-1120 or reach out to her at [email protected].

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Elks, reach out to an Elk member or call 308-249-4789 to get an application.
