On Friday night, March 24, the Leyton FFA Chapter held their annual FFA Labor & Silent Auction at Leyton High School. A big turnout enjoyed delicious food and a Louisiana Crawfish Boil provided by Leyton FFA Alumni, were able to bid on many valuable items through the Silent Auction, and were able to bid for the services of current FFA members during the Labor Auction.

The agricultural community had a great evening enjoying the food and camaraderie, and also had the opportunity to bid on other items like Staredown Herbicide, specialized seed and corn, and Nebraska Cornhusker Football tickets for next years' games.

Proceeds from the auctions benefit the Leyton FFA chapter, which has been very active for many years in preparing young people for a future in agriculture and strengthening rural communities. FFA is integral in keeping our rural communities prosperous and able to adapt to the challenges of farming for the future.

About 90 people attended the Auction, and the Leyton FFA Chapter raised about $15,000 at the event and had numerous cash donations given to the group prior to the event. The alumni also raised an additional $1,300 which will be used for scholarships for the senior members of Leyton FFA.

Leyton FFA Advisor Nicole Hughes thanked the participating individuals and businesses that took the time to speak with the FFA students and helped with their donations. Much of the money raised will be used for FFA Leadership Conferences as well as the National FFA meeting in the Fall.
