Frerichs Celebrates A Century

It was a special day at the Sidney Regional Medical Center's Extended Care unit on Keller Drive, as resident Adeline Frerichs celebrated her 100th birthday. A big turnout of friends and loved ones turned out for her special day. Frerichs recounted the milestones of her life, from her birth and childhood in Franklin, NE, to meeting her husband and moving to Gurley. She was an active member of the community, serving on the School Board for 16 years. She has two daughters, and after her husband passed away in 1984, she lived for many years by herself in Gurley.

When asked what the secret to long life was, she said, "Be kind, and be true to yourself. And be kind to yourself and take care of yourself."

It was a lovely day for her surrounded by friends and loved ones who all congratulated her on her 100th year, and wished her many more in the future.
