Dr. Ariel Soriano is a good sport as he gets a pie in the face as part of SRMC's Night of Hope fundraiser. The doctor said it was his first time getting a pie in the face, and hopefully his last.

Sidney Regional Medical Center did their part in raising money for the Night of Hope Cancer Walk on Tuesday, August 1, when their "Pie-In-The-Face" fundraiser ended, and the "victim" turned out to be Dr. Ariel Soriano.

A number of doctors and administrators had donation buckets at the hospital and other locations for the last few weeks in preparation for the event. The person that had collected the most money would get the pie in the face, unless they matched the amount raised. If they did, they could then select who would get the pie in the face. If that person then doubled the amount, he or she could then choose who they would want to see get the pie in the face.

The most donations went to SRMC CEO Jason Petik. He opted to match the donation, and then selected SRMC's Dr. Ariel Soriano as the pie "victim". Dr. Soriano then matched the donation and tried to send it to another "victim", but that donation was also matched and sent back to Dr. Soriano. Seeing that he had met his match, Dr. Soriano relented and took the pie-in-the-face, much to the delight and amusement of the gathered crowd.

The event raise nearly $1000 for Night of Hope, and SRMC will also be providing other items, including Colorado Rockies tickets, at the auction at Night of Hope on August 11.
