Lady Coyotes Win Three Over Week
September 14, 2023
POTTER--Potter-Dix's Lady Coyote Volleyball team may be young, but they are starting to get in sync and play well, earning victories early in the season. They hosted a struggling Peetz Lady Bulldog team on Tuesday, September 5, and had no trouble sweeping the visitors in straight sets, 25-to-8, 25-to-10 and 25-to-14 for the 3-to-0 match victory.
They next traveled to Mitchell on Thursday, September 7, for a triangular with Mitchell and Kimball. First up was Mitchell, and the Lady Tigers started strong and were able to find the empty spots on the court for points, taking the first set 25-to-18. But Potter-Dix regrouped and fired back, hustling around the court and playing good defense to hold off the Lady Tigers and take a 25-to-23 second set victory. The momentum carried over into the third set and the Lady Coyotes battled with the Lady Tigers, but the home squad was able to string together a few points in the end and took a 25-to-22 third set victory for the 2-to-1 match win. The Lady Coyotes bounced back with a straight set win against Kimball, downing the Lady Longhorns 25-to-16 and 25-to-23 for the 2-to-0 match win.
On Saturday, September 9, the Lady Coyotes traveled for tournament action in Bridgeport, and first the Lady Coyotes had to match up with the tough Bridgeport Lady Bulldog team. The Lady Coyotes stayed with the Lady Bulldogs in the first set until the Bridgeport girls pulled away in the end for a 25-to-15 first set victory. But the second set was all Bridgeport, and the Lady Bulldogs rolled over the Lady Coyotes with a 25-to-5 second set victory for the 2-to-0 match victory. They next matched up with a North Platte St. Pat's Tournament Team and lost in straight sets, 25-to-15, 25-to-17. Potter-Dix ended the tournament with a win over Cody-Kilgore in straight sets, 25-to-12, 25-to-13.
The Lady Coyotes are playing well and have a 6-and-4 overall season record. They are scheduled to host Sioux County on Friday in Potter.
