Peetz, Fleming return to field in playoffs

On Oct. 18, the Peetz Bulldogs and Fleming Wildcats met for a gridiron contest in Fleming.

The contest was every bit what a football fan would want with both teams scrapping for the win.

Peetz closed the game with a 13-point win, a tight game for many six-man contests. The two teams return to Fleming’s field in the second round of six-man playoffs Saturday at 1 p.m.

Peetz defeated Eads in the first round of play 58-8, and Fleming defeated LaVeta 52-16 to earn a chance for a rematch between the two local teams. Peetz averages 17.3 points in the first quarter while Fleming averages 15.3. Peetz has an 18.3 point second quarter average compared to Fleming’s eight-point second quarter average. Third and fourth quarters are tighter between the two teams with Peetz averaging 14.8 points per third quarter and five points per fourth quarter, and Fleming at 9.8 points per third quarter and 7.4 points per fourth quarter.

The winner of the Peetz-Fleming game will face the winner of the Kit Carson-Prairie game. Prairie is 9-0 on the season and Kit Carson 8-1. On the other side of the bracket, Stratton/Liberty faces Otis and Cheyenne Wells faces North Park, all at 1 p.m. The winner of Stratton/Liberty and Otis, and Cheyenne Wells and North Park face off parallel to the Peetz-Fleming and Kit Carson-Prairie winners of the resulting winners meeting for the six-man championship on Nov. 18.
