Sidney Wrestlers Reach Milestones

A strong work ethic, great practice habits, and a passion for the sport are a few of the necessary elements for success in wrestling. Being blessed with natural athletic ability is also a big help in the quest to become a state champion.

The Sidney Red Raiders have quite a number of outstanding wrestlers on their squad, and two of them have recently achieved milestones that most wrestlers only dream of when they first start wrestling at the high school level.

Junior Trey Arellano notched his one hundredth victory of his high school career during the Cozad Invitational Tournament.

His drive to repeat as state champion is off to a fast start, passing the one hundred win mark at Cozad and placing second overall in his weight class, and then placing second in a very close match with a tough opponent from wrestling powerhouse Poudre at the Charlie Lake Invitational.

Senior Derek Robb notched his 150th win of his high school career over the past week, and placed 1st in his weight class at the Cozad Invitational and at the Charlie Lake Invitational. Robb is off to a fast start in quest to earn a fourth State Championship.
