Couple united in Sidney

Katie Schumacher and Jeff Meyer were united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney. The wedding Mass officiants were Rev. James Novakowski and Rev. Art Faesser.

Parents of the couple are Clem and Jamie Schumacher, and Marge Meyer and Marvin Meyer, all of Sidney. Grandparents are Maynard and Norma Jean Schumacher of Sidney, Dale and Jody Farmer of Gothenburg, the late Margaret Hamilton and the late Elden Hamilton, Eileen Meyer of Gering, and the late John and Hazel Meyer.

The Bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, and given away by her parents. Katie wore a strapless alabaster, embellished ruched satin, corseted full A-line balloon hemmed gown with cathedral-length bustled train and veil. She carried a fall colored bouquet of red roses, yellow-orange tulips, dark orange asters, and dark purple mums. Her attendants wore halter top espresso taffeta floor length corseted gowns.

Serving the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Tessa Schumacher of Kearney. Bridesmaids were Rebekah Rutar (friend of the bride), Cheyenne, Wyo.; Jessica Brauer (friend of the bride) Lincoln; Jessica Schumacher (sister-in-law of the bride), Atkinson; and Trianna Wood (friend of the bride), Lincoln. The flower girl was Grace Meyer (niece of the groom) Lincoln.

Serving the groom as the best man was his brother, Darrin Meyer of Lincoln. Groomsmen were Matthew Fehringer (cousin of the groom), Lincoln; Brady Jackson (friend of the groom) Denver; Ben Schumacher (brother of the bride) Atkinson; Jason Smith (friend of the groom) Wahoo; and Earle Mock (friend of the groom) Denver. The ring bearer was Zachary Schumacher (nephew of the bride) Atkinson.

Ushers were Kyle Thompson (nephew of the groom) and Robert Kring (cousin of the bride). Amy Thompson (sister of the groom) served as lector and Dylan and Blake Thompson (nephews of the groom) were altar servers. Pianists were Nancy Wolff and Jamie Schumacher (mother of the bride). Vocalists were Christina Stevens, Cassie Thompson (niece of the groom), and Jessica Brauer. Host couples were Matt and Leona Larson of Greeley, Colo.; and Eugene and Marleen Nienhueser of Sidney, (uncles and aunts of the bride).

A reception, dinner, and dance followed at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.

Katie is a graduate of the University of Wyoming’s Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing and is employed at Bryan Medical Center on the Orthopedic-Trauma floor as a Registered Nurse. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Lincoln and is a secondary math instructor for Plattsmouth High School. The couple resides in Lincoln.
