1938 to 2012

Frances Ilene Elliott, 74, a long time resident of Longmont, Colo., and former Dalton resident, passed away quietly on July 8, 2012, at her residence after losing her battle with cancer.

Frances Ilene Elliott, the daughter of Harmie and Virginia Saathoff, was born on April 26, 1938, in Macon, Neb.

Frances and family moved to Dalton where her dad opened up a small café and she attended and graduated from Dalton High School while working part-time in her father’s café.

Frances is survived by her husband of 23 years, Lyle Elliott; a son, Keith Martin and wife Gena of Loveland; a daughter, Theresa Dirkes and husband Doug of Loveland, and their two children Paul Dirkes and Lindsey Dirkes of Johnstown all was present when she passed.

Frances worked a myriad of jobs through the years. She worked as a telephone operator, waitress, later decided Longmont was home, she moved to Colorado in 1968. She went to work with Red Dale Coach Company till their closing and Mallard Coaches and then Mountain View Cemetery where she retired in the early 90’s.

Frances loved life and always a good party and was a well known social butterfly, there was not too many people from the old days she did not know or recognize and always willing to rekindle old relationships and develop new ones.

She loved to go dancing and was regular on the dance floor of many of the local clubs, Moose, VFW, Elks Etc. Later in her life she developed a sense of adventure and found a love of traveling on the back of a Honda Goldwing to every state in the union, even though the trips were crippling for her do because of previous childhood conditions. Frances and husband, traveled to England Scotland and Ireland during their last trip. Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, and Alaska were a few of her favorites.

Services have taken place and interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, Colo.

The family is asking that donations in Frances name be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield County at 2594 Trailridge Dr E, Lafayette, Co 80026 instead of flowers.
