Doris Eileen Ewing, 85, of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and a former Lodgepole area resident passed away Dec. 21, 2012, in El Dorado Hills.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in the Mennonite Cemetery east of Chappell with Wayne Fraass, P.M.A. Officiating.

There is no visitation at the funeral home.

Doris was born in Chappell to Jesse and Sarah Yoder on Jan. 29, 1927. She attended Deuel County High School graduating in 1945. She went on to earn a cosmetology license, attending Bonnie Beauty School in Denver. She married Harry Ewing at Evergreen, Colo., in 1947. They moved to Nebraska in 1948 to farm and later to raise two sons.

In 1965 they moved to El Dorado Hills. Doris was a charter member in the EDH Garden Club, and worked at the EDH Post Office for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Community Bible Church in Folsom. After retirement, Doris continued to enjoy visiting her many friends and relatives across the country travelling by auto, boat, plane, train, hot-air balloon, and of course motor home. Her home was always open to all who would honor her with a visit.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Sarah; brother, Millard; sister, Laura Belle; and her husband, Harry.

Doris is survived by her son, Steve (Mary) Ewing; son, Richard (Lori) Ewing; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
