Ronald W. McMillen, 76, of Sidney, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies, early Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to the Cheyenne County 4-H Council.

Ronald William McMillen, the son of Arthur George and Edna Mabel (Hammond) McMillen, was born on Oct. 2, 1936, at Sidney. Ron was raised in the Sidney Draw area and graduated from Sidney High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Ron is a past member of the Nebraska National Guard, Board Member of Farm Bureau, the Cheyenne County Fair Board, the Sidney Jaycees and a Dinklage Feedyard Employee for 27 years. Ron was a strong supporter of the 4-H beef and horse programs, high school rodeos, Thursday night roping, a member of the Nebraska State Rodeo Association, the First United Methodist Church and eager to attend and help with anything his grandchildren were involved in.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Sidney; two sons, Marty and wife Jody of Lodgepole and Robb and wife Michelle of Sidney; four grandchildren, Wyatt, Seth, Taya and Kord McMillen; brothers, Ken McMillen and Paul McMillen and wife Carolyn of Sidney; sister, June Katen of Sidney; sisters-in-law, Idona Richens of Gering and Jane Zalesky of Lodgepole; brothers-in-law, Harry Brown and wife Elnora of Gothenburg, Jim Brown and wife Vicky of Lamar, Colo., and Dick Brown and wife Joyce of Alamogordo, N.M .; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Edna McMillen; and numerous extended family members.
