Thanks Darin’s Auto

Editor,

As a traveler on I-80 during Thanksgiving week, I was gratified to have met some wonderful folks in Sidney who came to my rescue after my car broke down at a rest stop a few miles from town.

To the young man who tried to help me at the rest stop and then drove to town and contacted the auto repair shop, I am most grateful that you helped a stranger. Your kindness is remembered.

Darin VanNatter and his employee were able to fix my car and get me back on the road to my Iowa destination. Darin’s Auto Repair is a great asset to Sidney and their work is excellent.

When it turned out that the needed part could not be obtained until the next day, Mr. VanNatter gave me a tour of Sidney and then introduced me to the local motel staff where I was able to lodge for the night.

Albeit, the tour of your town did not take long, it was clear that Mr. VanNatter took great pride in his town and I felt comfortable on my own as I found lodging and a place to eat dinner. In every store or restaurant I entered, I found the same friendliness and interest in a stranger’s well-being.

Sidney is a wonderful town and I will be forever grateful that my car broke down there and I got to experience interacting with some of the fine folks who help make the business community flourish.

Hats off to Sidney and a great big “thanks” to Darin’s Auto Repair for getting this traveler safely to my destination.

Candy Rutledge,

Las Vegas, Nev.
