Dalton Senior Citizens 2013

First activity of 2013, at the center was held Saturday, Jan. 5. It was the usual Food Pantry of the Plains.

There were many who came. There was plenty of food to be distributed, especially baked goods.

Special thank you to all those helping in any way.

We can always use volunteers to help set up the food, help those shop who need it and also carry out.

Monday, Jan. 7 was Pot Luck day with meeting following.

The usual good food prepared by the many good cooks. There were 10 members present to enjoy the meal.

Short meeting conducted by Margaret McCabe. President minutes read and approved. Treasurer report given and approved.

Robert Ketteler was sworn into office of vice president, for a two year term.

It was suggested we visit Lake Ogallala to review Bald Eagles. We welcomed a new member, Clifford Beyer. No further business, meeting adjourned.

Monday, Jan. 21, Pot Luck at noon with 11 members present. Vi Noonan lead the dinner prayer.

Suzette Flick from home health took blood pressures of those who wanted it. She also joined us for dinner.

Made arrangements to go to Lake Ogallala Jan. 23.

Cards were played others visited or worked on a puzzle.

January 23 five members were driven to Lake Ogallala by Pat Beyer.

We arrived about 10 a.m. The Eagles were done fishing but thirty or so remained in trees across the waterway from reviewing building. Early they counted about 60 birds feeding. A few sat out on the ice. They flew around some.

There were many ducks and a pelican that sat on the ice looking like a giant snowball. The pelican is the third largest bird in North America, with a wing span of 96 inches. Also saw a Blue Heron afar.

We spent about two hours with the birds. Stopped by Oregon Trail Trading Post, east of Lewellen, for lunch. Very good food.

Really enjoyed the day.

January 30, Birthday and Anniversary Party Day. Pat Beyer was birthday girl, so we sang Happy Birthday and took her picture. Also Carol and Mike Rollings ‘ anniversary.

Lunch was prepared by Phi Alpha Kappa and served by Charlette Swanson and Peg Rezak. Cards were enjoyed.
