Buffett’s salary – fact or fantasy

Editor,

The administration and their subservient mainstream media continue to publicize that Warren Buffett’s salary is less than his secretary’s. What a hoax. Warren Buffet sets both salaries and if he were to pay himself a salary commensurate with that of CEOs of other large companies, none of which are anywhere near as large as Berkshire-Hathaway, his would be in the multimillion dollar range. He doesn’t need the salary since most of his earnings are from dividends and interest which is a huge amount.

An interesting twist to this scenario in the purchase of the Burlington-Santa Fe railroad last year or the year before. The Administration has not seen fit to approve the application for construction of the Keystone Pipeline which would carry huge amounts of oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas from the Bakken oil field and adjacent gas and oil basins stretching from North Dakota to Saskatuan Canada. Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana to our gulf coast for possible shipment to European nations and beyond. As a result huge amounts of these products must be shipped by rail and across southern Canada to pacific ports for shipment to China and other Asian Countries. It might not be too much of a stretch of the imagination to suspect that there might be somewhat of a payback involved. At any rate the purchase of Burlington Northern – Santa Fe has to have been a terrific move on Berkshire-Hathaway’s part.

Many of the president’s supporters are in favor of the Keystone application and our new Secretary of State, whose background is far from spotless to say the least, is now reviewing the application and it will probably be approved in the near future.

Just a footnote for all you catsup lovers, Berkshire-Hathaway is just now purchasing the Heinz Company for 28 billion dollars.

Sidney
