Jacqueline R. “Jacquie” Brown, 83, of Dalton, passed away at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

Wake services will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20. Both services will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton with Father Dave Rykwalder officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday until 5 p.m. to sign Jacquie’s register book and drop off condolences for the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jacquie’s name to a Cancer related fund or cause.

Jacqueline Ruth Brown, the daughter of Steven and Ruth (Woodward) Taylor, was born on Dec. 16, 1929, at San Diego. Following her education, Jacquie worked as a Keypunch Operator at Point Mugu, Calif., with the Naval Astronautics Group. It was here she met Harold M. Brown. On Jan. 15, 1981, she and Hal were united in marriage in Honolulu. They were stationed in Hawaii before being transferred to Mare Island at Vallejo, Calif. Following a move to Oak Harbor, Wash., they made their home in Dalton in 1992.

Jacquie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Lion’s Club and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a Hospice Volunteer, enjoyed her indoor plants and was in constant contact with friends and family by phone.

Survivors include her husband, Hal of Dalton; her children, Kenneth Weirick of Grants Pass, Ore., Glen Weirick of San Raphael, Calif., Roberta DeRome of Hutchison, Kan., David Brown and wife Regla of Rota, Spain, Daniel Brown and wife Christine of San Diego, and Tim Brown and wife Janet of Lincoln; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gillespie and husband Bud of Broadwater and Joan Garrison of Eugene, Ore .; nine grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Jacquie was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Michael and Stephen Weirick.
