Sidney sixth, Petik in medal position after first day

Golfers battered by wind, rain in opening round of state competition

 

While the weather took the headlines at the Class A and C state golf tournaments yesterday, the players took center stage in Class B.

Despite 29 mile per hour winds, with gusts up to 36 and nearly a half an inch of rain, 70 players from around Nebraska completed the first day of the Class B State Golf Championships at Holmes Golf Course in Lincoln.

Six players from Sidney made the trip to including one alternate.

After 18 holes of play Sidney sits sixth in the team competition out of the 12 teams involved. The Raiders came in with a 386 total while leader Beatrice carded a 354. Elkhorn So...
