Letter to the Editor: Larry Fraas of Larry's Clothing

Since January 1, when we have driven or walked by Larry’s Clothing Store, it leaves us with some great memories, but also with a great deal of sadness.

Larry Fraas has not only owned and managed one very fine men’s clothing store (and later women’s clothing), but he was a gentleman and also a community leader in so many ways. He has served on many boards, committees and service clubs, as well as being the “instigator” of the Gold Rush Days celebration. Many times he’s been seen on top of the downtown businesses in all kinds of weather putting in news lights.

I am sure everyone was met with a pleasant greeting and a frequent handshake when they visited his store and when figuring your bill, you would frequently find he had given you some kind of a discount.

I would often say “Larry, you can’t do that” and his answer would be “Why not?” My answer to him would be “because I want to see you in here at this time next year.” Well, Larry, I hope you did not give out too many of those discounts and we ran you out of business.

I am sure that everyone in our community who has frequented your business or worked with you in many of your projects are all saddened by your closure, but we all wish you the very best and are looking forward to seeing you somewhere in Sidney where you can have Saturdays off.

Thank you, Larry, for all you have done for each of us and for Sidney. And thank you for your friendship.

Daryl & Mary Conger

Sidney
