Nebraska Wheat Board elects Rick Larson as chairman

Rick Larson of Potter was elected chairman of the Nebraska Wheat Board at a recent NWB meeting. Brent Robertson of Elsie was elected vice chairman.

Larson is in his third term on the NWB board of directors and has served since 2003. A representative of District 2, Rick and his wife Diane live and farm in Banner and Kimball counties. They farm irrigated and dryland wheat, corn, edible beans and alfalfa.

Larson graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Animal Science. He also serves as the NWB representative for issues regarding the wheat steam sawfly. Larson will fill one of NWB’s two seats on the board of directors for U.S. Wheat Associates and is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, Robertson began serving on the NWB board of directors in 2005. He represents District 7, the at-large district for NWB, and farms in Perkins, Chase and Lincoln counties. Robertson and his wife Amy farm irrigated and dryland wheat and corn. He graduated from UNL with a Bachelor of Science in diversified agricultural and minors in agricultural economics, animal science and mechanized systems management. Robertson will fill the other seat for NWB on the USW board of directors. He also serves as the NWB representative for the Wheat Foods Council and is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association.

Members of the Board of Directors are appointed by the governor to serve five-year terms. The chairman and vice chairman are elected by the board and traditionally serve two years in that position.
