Red-hot Peetz rolls to 67-18 victory against Weldon Valley

Senior quarterback Bradey Holtz threw for three touchdowns and sophomore running back Cody Wilson scored three times to help Peetz (Colo.) High School to a 67-18 over Weldon Valley on Friday.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in league play.

Holtz only attempted four passes in the game, but completed three of them – all for TDs – for 85 yards. Junior Jordan Nelson rushed for 58 yards and a TD and teammate freshman Helmuth Wenneker picked up 48 yards on the ground. Wilson added 41 yards rushing, including a pair of rushing TDs.

Jordan Nelson, Casey Barrett and Wilson all caught TD passes in the game.

Defensively, Nelson and Wenneker each recorded 10 tackles, while Garrin Cox added a pair of sacks. Holtz also picked off a pass for Peetz.

Barrett also was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs and provided a field goal in the win for the Bulldogs.

Garden County 68,

Leyton 13

Leyton fell behind 46-6 by halftime and couldn't recover as the Warriors slipped to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in District play.

Senior James Rushman ran for 39 yards and a touchdown for Leyon, while sophomore receiver Zach Hellie caught a TD pass. Quarterback Rhette Dye was 8-for-18 passing for 107 yards.

Kordell Mestas led Leyton with 16 tackles, while teammate Cody McKay added 11 more.

Leyton is back in action this Friday, traveling to Potter-Dix.

Potter-Dix 56,

South Platte 12

The Coyotes pulled away to a 56-0 lead by the intermission as they improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in District play. Potter Dix put up 22 points in the opening

quarter and 34 more in the second.

Potter-Dix entertains Leyton this Friday in both schools' regular-season finale.

Hemingford 93,

Creek Valley 8

The undefeated Bobcats – ranked No. 8 in the most recent Class D rankings according to MaxPreps – scored 41 points in the opening period and 40 more in the second and never looked back as they overwhelmed winless Creek Valley.

Senior Dane McConnell ran the ball 14 times for 70 yards and the Storms' only score of the night.

Quarterback Pierce Leaf added the two-point conversion for Creek Valley, which slipped to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in District action.

Sean Richardson led Creek Valley with six tackles.

Running back Ethan Skinner ran for 153 yards and four TDs on just five carries for Hemingford (7-0, 4-0).

The Storm wraps up their season on Thursday night, traveling to Dundy County-Stratton (2-5).
