19 die on Nebraska roadways in November

Nineteen people were killed in traffic accidents on the state’s roadways during November, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Roads. There were also 12 fatalities on the roads in November 2013.

Last month, the 19 fatalities occurred in 17 crashes. In those accidents, 13 of the 19 vehicle occupants who died were not wearing safety belts. Five of the fatalities occurred on interstate roads, with nine happening on non-interstate highways and five on local roads. Fourteen of the fatalities occurred in rural locations.

Twelve of the fatalities involved victims who were age 34 or younger. Six of the fatal crashes were head-on collisions. One of the fatalities involved an all-terrain vehicle.

For 2014, there have been 208 fatalities involving 186 crashes. Through November 2013, there had been 190 fatalities in 171 crashes.
