Lady Storm cagers outlast Banner County, 43-23

The Creek Valley Lady Storm won its league game against Banner County on Saturday, 43-23.

Junior Jessie Straber took over as the offensive backbone of the squad, scoring 15 points off seven baskets and a free throw.

It was an all-around team effort for the Lady Storm as Payje Misegadis maintained her status as the defensive leader, taking nine rebounds and four steals, as well as sharing four assists.

The Lady Storm led 21-14 at halftime – though they would turn up the heat in the second half as they outscored the Lady Wildcats by 13 to earn the win.

In terms of taking the defensive bull by the horns, Jessie Straber also garnered seven steals and five rebounds against Banner County for a strong showing.

Another defensive leader for the Lady Storm was freshman Jordyn Koenen with seven rebounds and a steal. She also added an assist.

Other scorers for Creek Valley were: Andi Ortgies (6), Koenen (6), Misegadis (4), Joey Straber (4), Samantha Schmid (4), Madison McFee (2) and Jaden Criswell (2).

The Lady Storm will play at Perkins County on Dec. 28. The squad will return home on Jan. 5 to host Peetz at 6 p.m.

On the boys’ side, Creek Valley fell to Sedgwick County on Friday, 65-32. Statistics and game information were not available at press time.
