Sidney trio picked for baseball all-conference team

Three Sidney Post #17 Legion Junior players were chosen for all conference honors for their play this summer.

Bret Jaggers, Arick Doty and Zack Means were names among the top players in the conference, which includes teams from across the Panhandle.

Batting from the number three spot, Jaggers was Sidney's offensive leader, finishing the year with a .385 average and an on-base percentage nearing .600. Jaggers scored 47 runs for the Juniors, while providing solid defensive coverage in center field.

Means was Sidney's cleanup hitter and many times came through in the clutch, earning a .459 batting average. Means made a big target at first base, and down the stretch was often Sidney's go-to pitcher.

The well-rounded Doty could be called upon to cover both infield and outfield needs, serving a good portion of his time behind the plate. He also was part of Sidney's starting pitching rotation. At the plate, he batted .320 and scored 28 runs through Sidney's season.
