Cabela's Fishing Day set for this weekend at pond

One of the biggest youth activity days of the summer is Saturday, when hundreds of youth line the shores of the pond in Legion Park for Cabela’s Kids Fishing Day.

Activities get underway at 8:30 a.m., running until 11 a.m. Youngsters 12 and under will learn knot tying and other facets of fishing, then get their lines wet in the freshly stocked pond.

A number of the fish will be tagged, and those tags when turned in will net the young person who caught the fish a gift card.

Participants are asked to bring their own rods, although there will be a few loaners available for those who do not have one.

Members of the Sidney Elks Club will be grilling hot dogs to appease the fishermans’ appetites. Afterward, activities will switch to the Cabela’s Retail Store, where the company will host a Family Fun Day. The Fun Day is scheduled to run from noon to 4 p.m.
