Mullen spanks Leyton 92-25

The Leyton Warriors hosted the Mullen Broncos Friday evening, but the party was not very positive as Mullen defeated Leyton 92-25.

Mullen proved it’s domination early with a 46-0 first quarter. The Broncos of Mullen added 24 more in the second quarter while Leyton added 19 of their own for a 70-19 halftime score. Mullen controlled the third period with a 14-0 score, then the scoreboard almost evened out in the fourth with an 8-6 period.

Mullen had 53 total plays and Leyton 50. Mullen earned 23 first-downs and Leyton eight. Mullen was penalized four times for 20 yards and Leyton three times for 31 yards.

Leyton junior Josh Kruse completed 11 of 35 passes for 156 yards; four touchdowns and two interceptions. Senior Jaydin Gartner, senior, was two for two for 42 yards. Gardner also carried the ball five times for a loss of 22 yards. Kruse carried the ball three times for a loss of five yards. As a team, Leyton carried the ball 10 times for a loss of 29 yards.

Gardner lead the team in receptions with five for 75 yards and three touchdowns.

The team collected 234 offensive yards. Freshman Dominick Russ had one yard rushing, 94 yards receiving, 45 yards kick returning. Gartner lost 22 yards rushing, had 75 yards receiving and 23 yards in kick returns for a 76-yard total.

Mullen had 343 yards rushing, 31 yards receiving, 40 yards in kick returns, 54 yards in punt returns for a total of 478 offensive yards.

Leyton did collect 64 tackles; 22 were solo and 42 were assisted.
