Sidney revenues are maintaining well, according to Finance Director David Scott.
Scott made a report before the Sidney City Council during Tuesday’s city council meeting.
In his report, Scott noted that the City has collected $331,785 in Property Tax and DMV, about 22 percent of the budgeted amount.
“This is very close to the $354,608 we had collected at the same time last year and seems to be in line with previous year percentages for this point in the fiscal year,” he said in the report.
Scott added that the next budget cycle will likely reflect lower sales tax as property is selling for less than assessed value throughout the city.
He said the City has received $1,016,796 in sales tax so far, about 40 percent of the budgeted sales tax, as of February 2018. The City has received 15 percent of the budgeted amount — $66,485 — in service fees. He said the numbers are for the fall and winter months when the pool is closed and business at the golf course is slow.
Scott also said the State/Fed/County portion of the budget looks different because it has been reformatted. In the past, the City had budgeted random amounts for possible grants they might receive, according to the written presentation. Scott said the City is not doing that this fiscal year to show a more accurate representation of the City’s budget. He said besides a large amount of funding for a new sales tax project in 2016, Sidney’s revenue from the three entities is consistent or slightly declined.
“I don’t really see a whole lot for concern,” he said Tuesday.
The city council also approved a new manager application of Victor Clarke for Sonny’s Super Foods liquor license and a Special Designated Liquor License application for Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. The church is hosting a wine tasting event 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, April 13. Cost is $25 per couple or $15 per person.
City Clerk Geri Anthony reported that none of the city election races will be in the Primary Election. The Sidney Airport Authority has two candidates, both incumbents, the two-year city council seat has one candidate and the four-year seats have four candidates, two incumbents and two challengers. Write-in candidates have until May 4 to submit an affidavit of intent.
The council entered into executive session at 7:48 p.m. regarding real estate negotiations.
