Peetz Lady Bulldogs Drop Season Opener

Peetz's Lady Bulldog Volleyball team hosted the Weldon Valley Lady Warriors in their home opener, and lost the match in straight sets 3-to-0. The Lady Bulldogs scored the first point of the first set, but the Lady Warriors responded and quickly pulled away to a comfortable lead.

First year head coach Shawna Runge continued to make adjustments and substitutions, and the Peetz girls started to gain momentum and narrow the Weldon Valley lead.

The Lady Warriors seemed to seal the set when they reached 21 points, but the Lady Bulldogs would not quit and eventually dropped the set 25-to-21. Peetz junior Kayleigh Leek provided the offensive spark with four kills and was a force in the middle with three blocks.

In the next two sets, Weldon Valley opened to big leads, but the Lady Bulldogs would not quit and staged rallies in each of the remaining two sets, falling 25-to-11 and 25-to-10 for a 3-to-0 match loss. Peetz hosts the Briggsdale Lady Falcons on Thursday.
