Fair Board Hears Presentation for Sound, Stage

December 4, 2019

The Cheyenne County Fair Board received a proposal to provide a stage and sound equipment for the county fair.

Todd Allen, of Mega Music in Sterling, Co., met with the Fair Board Nov. 25 to offer a stage 20 feet wide by 20 feet deep, with sound and lights for one opening band and one headlining band. The package as discussed would including promoting the Cheyenne County Fair concert through Mega Music and Allen's network. In addition, he would offer a ticket outlet at his store in Sterling.

“This particular stage I've had for about five years,” he said.

He said it is good for small and medium-size fairs.

Cost of the stage is $1,800 for the first concert, and $2,000 after that. He said the cost is lower because there wouldn't be any hotel or travel costs.

“I'm a professional sound engineer. Usually, I bring our own crew,” he said.

Allen said he also has a history with the entertainment industry and is willing to help negotiate with performers.

“I've been the promoter, talent on stage and sound engineer,” he said.

Also in the meeting, the board discussed a recent safety walk-through at the fairgrounds, noting placement of AEDs, defining exit routes and plans should there be an emergency.

The board also talked about sponsorships, including Great Western Bank sponsoring the barbecue during the Family Fun Night. The board discussed how other sponsors can be included in the event. According to discussion, other companies will be cooking the food and providing plates and utensils.
